One of the many sails we made for Kubo's boat. Creating an animatable, sturdy, 8 foot sail was a massive group effort in the soft goods, landscapes and rigging department!
I created this blanket with a special weighted silicone lining, patterned to be thin and double sided and able to drape gracefully over the puppet.
Sliding Door Panels and Interior Props
Creating this series of decorative panels was a meticulous operation, stretching gold lame over animatable panels. In the background is one of the many banners that I worked on for Hanzo's fortress, and on the floor are tatami mats made of thousands of thin strips of carpet material carefully sewn together.
I fabricated these lovely high spec parasols.
Kubo's Bag/ Blanket
I fabricated numerous blankets using a specially designed weighted lining. This one had to unfurl from a bag into a flat blanket.
I designed and fabricated the strap for Kubo's Shamisen instrument. I had to make MANY duplicates of these over the course of the film. They had to withstand animation over a whole shot, yet they were delicate and made out of natural raffia with embedded wire, braided and wrapped with layers of colors and detail.
Beetle's Nest Banner
I fabricated this animatable banner and added the stylized details.
Sail Made of Leaves
Working on one of many sails for the Kubo's sailboat.
Banners and Curtains
I worked on the banners, shades and many other soft props hanging in this village.
